Prebriefing expectations, debriefing requirements, and alternate learning activities
📋 Prebriefing — What You Need to Know
⏰Show up on time. Lateness is not tolerated. Clinical days begin at 06:00.
👔Have your correct clinical uniform for the unit you are assigned to. Med/Surg days require red scrub pants, white scrub top, and white shoes. Mental Health days require black slacks, Roseman polo, and white shoes.
🖊️Bring a pen and your nurse brain. You should arrive prepared to take report and begin working.
🥗Let the instructor know prior to prebriefing if you need to refrigerate your lunch. Arrangements will be made at the beginning of the day.
🏥You will be placed with the charge nurse on each unit in time to observe charge nurse handoff. After handoff, you will be paired with your nurse preceptor for the remainder of the clinical day.

Be prepared to discuss the following:
💡One thing you learned today that you did not know before.
📋An SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation) on 2 of your patients.
🏥A detailed summary of each patient's primary disease condition or admitting condition.
💊A summary of one drug you gave to a patient today — what it does, why it was ordered, and how it works.
🔬Something interesting about that drug — a notable side effect, interaction, mechanism, or clinical pearl.
